I See CHRISTMAS!!!

The expressions on the people's faces around me never seemed this bright. It seemed to be so jolly and there are no traces of being dull. I tried to read what it, and it's something that tells me of a time that they have so longed for.... and now that time has come! Oh yeah. the message is now clear to me, it's Christmas! The Seasons of joy has come yet, again!!!

After all the tragedies our country had endured, I never thought how we managed to give the world a hopeful smile still. Christmas has that magic i suppose, that every people during this Season grow in their hearts an amazing joy. And, for the 14 Christmas seasons I had, that magic had not spared me. (I have enjoyed all of my Christmas seasons!!!) I always liked how the children sing their christmas carols though annoyed a bit by their missing lyrics, but listening to them is such a great... FUN! :P And, I am like the most excited person in the world whenever my cousins come to our province on Christmas; I was certain that they have brought gifts waiting for us. :D
But, among the reasons why I enjoyed celebrating Christmas is that I'm always reminded of God's ultimate love when He gave His Son and open the Heaven's gate for us. It always feels like, I have that assurance of having God beside me, guiding me in each step I take in this world. And, I think remembering this LOVE is the THING about Christmas.
And so things are now clear indeed, Christmas has come, yet I know that soon it will pass away again. But, I'll try not to let go of the Christmas Season even if time tries to shake it off from my heart. I'll keep the Christmas spirit and spread it to the people smiling around me. And, in that way, maybe and I hope so.... Christmas Day can be Everyday!!!

I Will Miss November!

"I don't wanna miss a thing!...." This would seem to be a perfect theme song for my November. And if you are intersted why (hope you are :] ) let me tell you through this post...
I have to leave our classroom so often. I have missed a lot of assignments, projects, lessons and PEOPLE ;) I cannot certainly bring those classes back, even though I wanted it so bad. But, missing these things did not become a reason to spend my November with a lonely heart, I absolutely enjoyed the month just as how I enjoyed the song!

I went to sooo many competitions this month. Some of them were of Science, TLE and general info. These things caused me to leave the classroom so frequently. But, hey nobody can tell that it's not worth missing a class; I always managed to secure in all these contests a top and definitely an elusive spot.

Aside of all these success though, someone very special to us had left our school. This so far, could be the biggest MISS in our high school life. Our Ma'am Jo-c retired from teaching. Of the five fruitful months that we had, we have enjoyed her care, affection and if we could only bring her back to school we would, by all means. Because we can't help but miss her humor, her talent and the way she teaches that darn math. (And, darn she makes the subject look so easy (: )

But, behind all of these misses, there's one thing that I hadn't missed... for sure; it's the experience. I realized that these experiences were the real kind of lesson. And these lessons that i gained sounded so synonymuously with the Values Month Theme, "Pagpapatibay ng Pagkataong Pilipino: Tugon sa hamon ng Panahon. Indeed these experiences gave me much of mental and physical strengthening. It taught me how to react more effectively when things go tricky. November made me a more mature person.
November '09 might have passed, but the memories we shared shall never fade in my mind away. And, I am so looking forward for the next one, with more twists and turns perhaps, in my college life. =)

A Stormy Quarter

Ondoy, Pepeng, Ramil, Santi... you name them all. This quarter has been full of storms. Some of them may have caused little harm to us but some have also caused lots of distractions and confusions to our school-day schedules. Although honestly we enjoyed the long vacation, it didn't keep us away from the hard-hitting adjustments we made for this quarter.

As the storm surged its way through our school's schedules, school works also swept down like a hurricane in a signal no. 5 fashion. Projects and I.P's. rampaged through; activities came strangled and thundering, making me trapped in a menace of decisions and assignments showered us down every night. The Second Grading Period Storm outmatched the Tropical Storms itself; as if Pacquiao raining Cotto with his fists. The school requirements for this quarter was purely intense. We had to burn our midnight oil, raise our electric bills for the lights we use I should say. I had to put down the luxury of sitting in front of the television, I had to get my eyes peeled on the computer monitor for hours instead. This grading was quite harsh indeed. But, at least in this point of time I have seen a little light of diligence in me although it's in a "cram" manner. And, this quarter called me for a better, improved performance for the next one.

Over-all, hard and rocking as the Second Period may be, it was for me, still quite a fun ride. But upon evaluating this period, I have to raise some boards up and higher. And in order to reach my marks, I must be disciplined. Manage my time well and finish my tasks before the deadline without compromise. And, I do hope... that there will be no more rains on my next quarter ride.

"SUPER TEACHERS"

Ordinary people for some's eyes.
Terror Mentors for the closed minds.
But looking deeper, I see something nice.
Something, that saves our day and our LIVES =)

They are our TEACHERS !
Who feed us with lot'sa knowledge everyday.
And guide us through our problems all the way.
Oh yes, we owe them more than a wage!

More than the lessons they teach us.
They do more, Heroic deeds and acts.
More than the help they give.
They give all without minding what to receive.

What could we do to repay their sacrifice?
Studying at your best may count once or twice.
Giving apples, letters and balloons is a nice thing to do .
But better succeed in life 'cause your success is their's too!!!

Adapting to Diverse Science Culture for Development

More or less, this present community can be called as a developed one since our daily lives are now filled with advanced technologies brought about by science. If we are going to look back in time, our fore-fathers in science were able to come up with such amazing works and principles that were later derived into the production of machines and cool gadgets. The pursuit for development by these scientists wasn't easy though. During their times, there were a lot of established scientific laws and principles that are by this time considered wrong. But,our grandpas of science, though have debanked most of these laws were open-minded to the scientific philosophies that prevailed in thier times. They tried to dig more out of these "boxes of knowledge", adapted to it and... I guess we just have to look around us to see the fruits of their historic labor.

We are not inferior to these oldies if our capability to think of development-propelling ideas matter. We can always come up with cool ideas in science. These ideas may even lead to greater things our grandpa's could never imagine. And, adapting to the different scientific traditions, cultures and trends of thought is I think, a great help in guiding our ideas to its fulfillment-it's not just for the theme's sake really, it's 100% TRUE! :) Being open-minded to others' ideas is one simple way of adapting science cultures we can start with. And in my opinion, doing it so may someday lead to unimaginable margins of progress!

So, let's start adapting now! Be flexible, be open-minded and be a maker of development!

Our Language's Journey to Stardom :)

Who among you bloggers have already watched the film Baler? Maybe you have been amazed by the cinematography, the classic love story plot and the talents of Anne and Echo in acting their roles for the movie. Well, that's not the film's idea I wanted you to share in this blog. It's the struggles and sacrifices of the Filipino soldiers who fought for our rights and that they did all they can do to pave way for our Language's growth. It was on that little town of Baler did our own language anchored its roots and slowly but surely, was nurtured and gardened by our leaders to bloom its way to the entire nation.

But our language's journey to popularization didn't have any easy, smooth sail ride though. By the time the Americans came to our country, schools everywhere in the Philippines were using English as their conversation media. The Americans may have brought good tidings to our country's economy but the bad side was, our native tongue kept shut. Luckily we had one brave soul who gave hope of our language's rise to popularity; that was President Manuel L. Quezon. He bridged the gaps among the thousand islands of the country and spread the word, our word to the whole country.

Our leaders and heroes have done a lot of things for the country in terms of majoritizing our language. And we are now enjoying thier fruits of labor. As a way of paying back all their sacrifices, we must speak the Filipino language anytime, anywhere and in our own little ways, we must influence others to "talk our talk." For short, we must use it, love it and be proud of it. Let's tell the world that we speak Filipino! Long-live the Filipino language!

A Worthy Time of Learning

The first quarter of the school has been a very busy or rather, a lively period for me. I have been assigned to tougher and more complicated offices compared to that of last year. I've experienced a lot of new things in club interactions with my STEP Club family. And realizing that we are now on our last year in high school, I made it a point that I will spend every quarter of this year worthy and and meaningful.

TLE was one of the subjects which I have to start giving efforts unto, since it was always a subject that had really one of my weaknesses. I wasn't much of a memorization - oriented learner, i understand things the way i percieve them. But it was always a challenge for me to get those bulks of information in my head and TLE particularly ICT VI are of those subjects which includes a lot of mind stocking. Learning the History of the Internet was fun though. I didn't think that the guys behind Internet have been like us too, students who had lots of ideas and imaginations that we wanted to fulfill. I hadn't have much knowledge of weblogging before, but ICT IV introduced it to me in a very comprehensive way.

But, I also had hard times doing my requirements for the subject. To be honest, I am quite anxious on making blogs. Back then, i didn't really like to join on any multimedia or social site that would let other people know about my private life. Writing blogs was a daring task for me indeed. And finding time to fit all other school works was in the same way, down - right difficult.

But my thoughts didn't stop there. I forced myself to work harder. I've gained my motivation from my goals for this year. And, realizing that God has placed me on this learning process, I've constantly sought for His guidance. And, my friends had been great factors on how i have solved my study problems; they never fail to cheer me up when I'm feeling down.

The 1st quarter of this school term was indeed a lively one for me. Even when we needed to stay - up so late just to finish all our requirements, it's still worth it. What was important was that were able to play our roles as students and we had fun sharing the first three months of our senior life with new teachers and friends. Upon having these experiences, changing some of my study habits and managing my time well would be a great way on preparing myself for the next period. Memorization might still be quite off for me but i know that I could solve the problem with of course the provision of God. Let's make the next ones good, make it right and make everything worth while!

I Speak English and Filipino

The English and the Filipino language, two of the most primary and most widely used media of communication in the Philippines. They have provided linkages to every Filipino and have generated the country's unity and welfare. This indeed has proved that speaking in Filipino and English language are very important keys of our nation's growth and development.

However, as these languages continue to spread; improper and indecent words gradually sprout. People who have learned to use the language in their everyday lives have developed a new but unacceptable words and ways of speaking English and Filipino. These people are unaware that as they continue to speak the language in this manner, misunderstandings or worst, physical fights may happen. Speaking without such kindness may result not only up to this scenario but in bigger cases as well.

Knowing this in mind, each of us Filipinos must have the initiative to speak English and Filipino properly and with kindness. In this way a better and stronger bond with everyone could be attained. Though it is not necessary for us to speak to people with flattering and praising words, we must be true and just to all of the people we talk to without compromising politeness and benevolence. And if this things shall come true, our vision for our country's progress and unity could be seen a little clearer. Have you spoken English and Filipino yet?

"A Happy, Nutritious, Healthy and Disease Free Month"

Every 7th month of the year, schools all over our country Celebrate the Nutrition Month. They hold different kinds of copetitionand skills training that are pocused on giving awareness to the importance of right and proper nutrition to our health and as well as enhancing the talents of the students' livelihood and technological skills.

And as a way of joining the nation's celebration to Nutrition Month , our school had done a lot of fun and educational activities! They had Nutri Quiz, Oratorical Contest, Mural Painting, Cookfest, Food Festival, Poster-Slogan Making Contest and Nutri Jingle competitions.
The competitions are all fun, exciting and meaningful. I too can't help but to get enthraled during the competitions even when in fact, I didn't join any of them. (i served as a facilitator on this events, hehe ^.^)

And now that the Nutrition Month has ended, I would like to share to you bloggers my insights regarding the Nutrition Month themed, "Wastong Nutrisyon Kailangan, Lifestyle Diseases Iwasan"

Lifestyle diseases have contributed a lot of major problems to our own health ant to the nation's economy. This has become a big threat to our lives that, it needs urgent action in addressing this rising problem. Right and proper nutrition is onre of the best solution. This is what we need in order to prevent this lifestyle diseases.

Our practice and observation to our bodies had been affected by the modernizations brought about by the 21st Century. Our present lifestyle have evolved from the simple and equilibrized way of living t a very fast-paced and unhealthy terms of living. This generation's lifestyle-which has been a result of our ill-relationship with the environment-paved way to new kinds of of diseases. Heart-related diseases caused by improper and excessive intake of alchohol and high-cholesterol foods yielded a high percentage to our country's mortalities. Cancer which has been the leading cause of death in the whole world is also believed to have been caused by our diet of factory-processed foods.

By contrast to this present day lifestyle, the traditional practice of proper diet and nutrition has been accounted to give life - long benefits to our bodies' health. Eating well-balnced diet, proper and regular exercise can help us maintain a healthy mind and body. These has been testified by our ancestors who have enjoyed a long and invigorated life.

These real-life examples do not only show us a picture of life but also, it alerts and motivates us to practice and give importance to our bodies' proper nutrition and to keep away from the pit-falls posed by life-style related diseases. =)
